Annual Conference on European Tort Law

From March 31 to April 2, 2016, the 15th Annual Conference on European Tort Law is held in Vienna. The Conference provides practitioners and academics alike with the opportunity to learn about the most significant tort law developments in Europe in 2015. Experts from across Europe present highlights from their contributions to the Yearbook, European Tort Law 2015, which will be published in autumn 2016. An overview of developments in EU law is also provided and a concluding summary identifies and assesses the most important emerging trends. The Conference starts on Thursday evening (March 31, 2016) with an opening lecture by Catherine M. Sharkey on “Tort Liability for Pure Economic Loss: US and EU Perspectives”. The Conference concludes with a special session on “Liability for Unknown Risks” on Saturday morning (April 2, 2016) with lectures by Martin Hogg (Introduction to the subject of Liability for Unknown Risks, and Common Law perspective), Dirk Looschelders (Germanic system aspects of liability for unknown risks), Pedro del Olmo Garcia (Romanist system aspects of liability for unknown risks) and Louis Visscher (Economic aspects of liability for unknown risks). The Conference provides ample opportunity for discussion and debate, both in the formal proceedings and during the breaks.   20 Marzo 2016
