Ordinario di Diritto della Proprietà Intellettuale e delle Nuove Tecnologie presso la Guido Noto La DiegaUniversity of Stirling, il Prof. Guido Noto La Diega è specializzato nei profili tecnologici del diritto privato europeo (tutela del consumatore, diritto d’autore, governance dei dati), soprattutt con riferimento a internet delle cose (IoT), intelligenza artificiale (IA), robotica, cloud e blockchain. Formatosi alla scuola palermitana del diritto civile sotto la guida del Prof. Luca Nivarra, il lavoro dottorale di Noto La Diega verte sul rapporto fra proprietà e proprietà intellettuale ed è anche il risultato di un periodo di studi al Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition di Monaco.

Dopo l’abilitazione alla professione forense, Noto La Diega lascia l’Italia per entrare nei ranghi della Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), dove conduce ricerche finanziate da Microsoft su cloud e IoT in un gruppo interdisciplinare di giuristi di QMUL e informatici del Computer Lab della University of Cambridge.

Dopo molto peregrinare – incluse esperienze in Inghilterra, Germania, Svizzera, Brasile, Russia e Stati Uniti – Noto La Diega approda in Scozia dove è titolare delle cattedre di Proprietà Intellettuale e Diritto dei Media presso la University of Stirling, nonché Direttore del Just AI Lab e Vicepresidente della Commissione Pari Opportunità della Facoltà di Arte e Scienze Umane.

Noto La Diega è autore prolifico di saggi e monografie, incluso Internet of Things and the Law: Legal Strategies for Consumer-Centric Smart Technologies (Routledge 2022). Attualmente coordina un consorzio internazionale di universita’ tedesce e britanniche nel contesto del progetto di ricerca da mezzo milione di sterline “From Smart Technologies to Smart Consumer Law: Comparative Perspectives from Germany and the United Kingdom”, finanziato dagli equivalenti britannico e tedesco del CNR.

Al di fuori della University of Stirling, Noto La Diega ha una serie di incarichi, fra cui quello di componente del Gruppo di Esperti della Commissione Europea su Intelligenza Artificiale e Istruzione e quello di componente del comitato direttivo dell’Academic Research Programme dell’Ufficio dell’Unione Europea per la Proprietà Intellettuale (EUIPO). I rapporti con l’accademia italiana continuano, inclusi i ruoli di Fellow del Centro Nexa su Internet e Societa’ di Torino, componente della redazione di GenIUS e corrispondente dal Regno Unito per Diritto Mercato Tecnologia.
