Giuseppe Mastrantonio

Advocate, admitted to the Italian Bar (2006). Expert in the field of competition and regulatory competition law in the area of network industries, especially in the field of electronic communications (but also energy), and in the field of European and Italian civil law in general – with reference to the latter: especially in contractual law, consumer law and antitrust private enforcement. Graduated with full score at Law Faculty, University Luiss – Guido Carli (Roma), where in 2006 he obtained the PhD in “Law and Economics”. During the PhD studies he also obtained an LL.M. in “Competition Law and Economics” at the Erasmus University (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and he had the chance to be a visiting scholar at Boalt Hall, the Faculty of Law of University of California Berkeley (U.S.), where he attended the J.M. Olin “Program of Law and Economics”. Since 2005 junior researcher at the LE-Lab, research institution directed by Professor Roberto Pardolesi. Since Jannuary 2007 “cultore” in the field of Comparative Private Law at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University Luiss – Guido Carli. Lecturer/speaker at several Universities course, private LL.M. courses, conferences and author of several articles in all the above-mentioned fields of expertise. In 2010, after almost three years spent as associate at Chiomenti Studio Legale – Rome, where he was active in the department of “Competition Law, European Law and International Arbitration”, he joined, as associate, Studio legale Associato in associazione con CLIFFORD CHANCE – Rome, where he currently is active in the field of competition and regulatory competition law, consumer law, abuse of economic dependency and abuse of (exercise of) the right. Before entering in the above-mentioned Law Firm, he has been counselor for some public Institutions (e.g. for the Ministry of Communications with regard to the so-called “Italian Wi-Max Auction”, for the Technical Secretariat of the former Ministry of Communications as expert in the field of Telecommunications and European Law). Activity, the latter, he continued also afterwards his entrance in Chiomenti (e.g. member of the working group held by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers on the modification of article 140-bis of the Italian Consumer Code – the so-called “Italian Class Action”, member of the ISBUL Project which had as its object to provide AGCom with policy actions for speeding-up the penetration of broad- and ultra-wide band infrastructures and services in Italy).
